Five Ways to Handle a Disapointed Querent When the Querent is Wrong
This was written from a business perspective but I find it also applies to Tarot.
The key to handling disappointed querents is making them feel comfortable and taken care of. Johnathan Dickerson says, “The customer is always right except when they are wrong. Even when they are wrong, you gotta make them feel right.”
Sometimes as a reader, no matter what you do, you just can’t get a querent to agree with a reading, no matter what the result. How do you keep your querent from leaving in frustration? Here are five ways to help a reader work through such situations.
Way number one: Apologize—Your querent’s feelings come first.
Way number two: Sympathize—I understand that... (restate what the querent has said about the issue) but I am here to help.
Way number three: Let the querent talk—Tell them you want to get the issue taken care of and ask then to please tell you more about it.
Way four: Listen—Quote key points that the querent brings out.
Way five: Offer a solution—Despite the issue, you want the querent to be happy in the end. Here is where you can offer the querent a positive affirmation related to the reading to take with them.
Given ways one through five, you’ve handled a problem properly. This leads to a strong sense of brand loyalty and will ensure repeat business.
