Tarot and timing:
When will I get a raise?
When will I be done with this court case?
When will I find my true love?
“When” questions demand a time period for an answer to the question. It’s difficult to answer these questions because tarot advice and answers aren’t set in stone. Free will can change a lot of things in a very short amount of time. I’m one of those readers who isn’t afraid to give my clients ball-park figures for timing, usually based on the zodiac decans. If you want to, print out these dates and use them for cards and keep them handy for when a client asks a “when will I…” question. No one can be expected to memorize or retain upon request the zodiac method. I am comfortable with using the zodiac system and, for instance, when someone draws the Devil card, I tell them there’s either a Capricorn person influencing them somehow or a Capricorn time period, past, recently or presently. My clients are appreciative when I take the time to actually look up the times for their questions, and it’s always a treat to hear back from them later to tell me how close/right on the money my predictions were when using the zodiac way of timing.

Tarot timing can also be told to us using images according to Tarot Dude. “One way, is to look at the images that clearly depict a specific time of year. For instance, in some decks the Empress card clearly depicts summer or early fall. Or perhaps the Sun card may represent summertime to you. You can also use this method to determine specific times during the month. For instance, the Moon card can suggest that an event may occur around the next full moon. Other cards may illustrate a waxing or waning moon thus pointing to a time period in weeks. Look for snow in a card suggesting winter or early spring.” (http://tarot-dude.com/determining-timing-in-tarot/)
Often times, tarot readers use the seasons method of timing where wands are a week or Summer; cups are a day or Spring; swords are a month or Fall, and Pentacles are a year or Winter. More specifically, an example would be 3 of cups being 3 days.
Whatever system of timing you use, practice with it until you feel comfortable. You can use one or all three depending on what information you are trying to discover during the reading.
