The Impressionistic Tarot is a full 78 card deck.

This deck’spackaging comes in a beautiful hard cardboard box that has a magnet closure on the right side.  There is a well inside to hold the cards and the inside lid is illustrated with the Moon card.

The card stockis semi-glossy and shuffles easily.

The accompanying 192 page paperback book illustrates each card in color and shares the quote, “The easiest way to read a card is to study it like a painting in a museum, then describe it aloud.”

The book features a 10 card “Gallery of Dreams” spread.

The cards’ meanings are Rider Waite Smith based but most meanings change to fit the paintings.

Each card in the book has a quote by the card’s original painter, a first impression description of the card, inspiration for what inspired the original paintings, the card’s zodiac illumination, an interpretation to match the redesigned cards, and insight key words meanings.  The deck follows the RWS system without renaming or renumbering the Major arcana and courts.

The suitshave new names to reflect the artists:  Wands-Manet, Cups-Monet, Swords-Van Gogh and Pentacles-Degas, and the majors have mixed French artists.

All the cards in this deck are gorgeous, but  to describe one card, Three of Swords is interesting because instead of RWS three swords piercing a heart, they pierce a sunflower.

If you already know the meanings of the cards, and enjoy French Impressionistic art, this is a wonderful deck to collect and use.
